Couple and Family Enrichment Groups

We wanted to offer couples a framework for enhancing their interpersonal, parenting and communication skills.  The groups meet for a number of time-limited sessions, and focus on specific issues.  The first groups were for Couples with a Second Marriage.  Topics touched on included making two families into one, step-parenting, and dealing with ex-spouses.  Future groups will target couples with small children, couples with adolescents, and couples with aging parents.  The Groups for Couple and Family Enrichment Unit was created in the spring of 2002.

The designated population are people who have experienced a single trauma, such as a terrorist attack, car accident, mugging, date rape, etc. Treatment is done with victims on an individual basis and/or within the family context. The Trauma Unit has helped close to 150 trauma victims since its inception in January 2000.
